A day after that, on June 22nd, Canonical unleashes the highly expected update to the Mozilla Firefox web browser, replacing Firefox 4.0.1 with Firefox 5.0. It is available only for the Ubuntu 11.04 operating system!
Therefore, all Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) users can easily update their systems today to the new Firefox 5 web browser by running the Update Manager utility.
Among the features brought by Mozilla Firefox 5 we can mention the Location-Aware Browsing, support for CSS animations, increased discoverability by using the Do-Not-Track header preference, improved canvas, JavaScript and memory usage.
Firefox 5 also provides better networking performance, better spell checking, better desktop environment integration, better standards support for HTML5, MathML, SMIL, canvas, and XHR, and improved performance for background tabs.
These are just a few of the nice features that Mozilla Firefox 5.0 brings on your desktop. If you want to learn more about the new features or major changes from previous versions, please visit the official Firefox 5 website.
